Mark gave me an early cross country lesson with this Skylark. We both had
declared a 300K out and return. I departed first in my SHK but was making
slow progress into a stiff headwind >25knots. I was flying too
conservatively. Mark arrived in the 4 and when we got to the top of the
climb (~4200agl IIRC) he pointed the nose of down and took off upwind. It
sure looked extreme, but I thought what the heck and followed suite and we
started making real progress until we got cut off by solid overcast. I
started flying less conservatively after that.
