Similarly, I've walked all over an ASH-25 in my Pirat. Although, to be fair,
there may have been some local lift around ...
A don't doubt that the Skylark 4 is a bit better than a Pirat for maximum
L/D, I just don't think it's as good as an SHK-1. It also suffers a lot
at higher speeds, thanks to lots of washout. I did meet someone who owned
a special competition one built by Slingsby with much reduced washout -
went like stink but spun at the slightest provocation, apparently ...
